2026 AVMA Honey Bee Events

Join Us at the AVMA Convention!

For the third year in a row, AVMA is offering two exclusive Pollinator Excursions—don’t miss out.

Learn from California wildlife scientists about the iconic monarch butterfly: its remarkable migration, the challenges facing this threatened species, and why it matters to veterinarians as a key ecological indicator. And yes—monarchs face diseases and parasites, too.

Earn 5 CE credits while enjoying a fully hosted experience with transportation and lunch provided. You’ll also have time to explore the zoo and its pollinator exhibit.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Pollinators are essential to maintaining biodiversity and ensuring both the quantity and nutritional quality of our food supply. While honey bees may be a new patient species for many veterinarians, the core principles of herd health, disease prevention, and management remain the same.

Whether you’re a curious “newbee” looking to learn, or ready to incorporate honey bees into your practice and apply these 5 CE credits toward certification, this program is for you. The experience includes lectures, hands-on hive inspections, and diagnostic sampling for foulbrood diseases.

Lunch is generously sponsored by the Honey Bee Veterinary Consortium (HBVC), which will again host a booth in the exhibit hall. HBVC members are warmly invited to stop by—or even lend a hand at the booth.

Join us at #AVMA2026 for the Orange County Bee Team Honey Bee Excursion—a full-day program blending expert lectures, immersive bee yard experience, and practical diagnostic laboratory activities.

Stop by the HBVC Booth

The AVMA has once again generously provided the Honey Bee Veterinary Consortium (HBVC) with a booth in the Exhibit Hall.

If you’re attending the AVMA Convention, HBVC members are warmly invited to stop by, lend a hand, and take part in a “Show & Tell” for interested attendees. We’ll be featuring books, educational materials, equipment, and a demonstration hive—courtesy of Betterbee, a veterinarian-owned bee supply company.

We look forward to seeing you there!
